Every year Christian Aid week looks to raise funds to support others. This year the Christian Aid week ran between 15 – 21 May 2022. Water Orton Scout Group along with other youth groups from around the village supported collecting envelops from across the village during the week.

Scout Group we’re asked to collect from streets and road around the Scout HQ on Birmingham Road. It’s been a few years since we last were able to help last, and it was a pleasure to be asked again.

Our Cubs and Scouts had a great time collecting the envelopes and speaking to the kind and generous people of Water Orton, and helping others. Having the chance to give our young people a sense of pride and community is a critical element in Scouting and life skills. By collecting the envelopes and also explaining to those they met why, we were collecting gave our young people a different view of our wider world.

We had some great comments and praise from the people we met, the Leaders and the adult support who made it possible. Thank you to our Cubs & Scouts

From Christian Aid about us:

Everyone is equal in the sight of God. For over 75 years, this truth has inspired us to stand together in solidarity with our most marginalised global neighbours, of all faiths and none.

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive.

We seek to eradicate extreme poverty by tackling its root causes. Together with people living in poverty, we amplify our voices to speak truth to power and create lasting change.
