Helpful tips on what to have for outside activities
Your young person is heading out on an adventure at Beavers, Cubs or Scouts, be it at Scout HQ grounds, around the village or wider afield. The information below is a guideline to help you think about what might be needed and recommended. We have tips to help with Sections Nights, Activity Days, Hikes and Camps.

Section Nights: Beaver, Cub & Scout
- Uniform is needed for Beaver, Cub & Scout nights at Scout HQ.
- Beavers: Beaver jumper, necker and woggle.
- Cubs: Cub jumper, necker and woggle.
- Scouts: Scout shirt, necker and wiggle.
- Water bottle, but NO fizzy drinks.
- Coat for outside, when it might rain or is cold.
- Bag to keep anything young persons bring together.
Activity Days
- Uniform
- Rucksack with two arm straps, and put everything inside a plastic bag to keep everything dry.
- Water bottle (NO fizzy drinks)
- Walking boots with waking socks or strong shoes (activity dependant).
- Waterproof coat, and over trousers. (activity dependant).
- Spare jumper
- Food for lunch if requested as part activity
- All clothing to have the young person name in.
- Medication, to be individually labelled and handed to leaders before departure.
- Spending money to be handed in before leaving.
- No mobile devices or electronic games unless advised differently for a camp or event.


Hikes
- Rucksack with two arm straps, and put everything inside a plastic bag to keep everything dry.
- Walking boots with waking socks or strong shoes.
- Waterproof coat, and over trousers.
- Gaiters are recommended in autumn and winter walking,
- A warm hat, gloves and sun hat in Summer.
- Water (NO fizzy drinks),
- Walking for the day, food for lunch,
- Chocolate and snacks while walking,
- Spare jumper.
- Sun cream
- Personal first aid kit
- Touch with spare batteries & whistle
- Medication, to be individually labelled and handed to leaders before departure.
- Spending money to be handed in before leaving.
- No mobile devices or electronic games unless advised differently for a camp or event.
Camping

- Uniform
- Young people to pack their own bag.
- All items to be in a plastic bag to keep everything dry, especially important setting up and clearing away camp.
- Sleeping bag and recommend sleeping bag liner for extra warmth.
- Carry mat to insulate from the cold ground and more comfortable sleep, and blanket.
- Personal care items, such as toothbrush, toothpaste and wash.
- Bath, hand, and tea towel.
- Old clothes or clothes that it does not matter if anything happens to them.
- Clothes for each day
- Tee-shirt, shirt or blouse.
- Warm jumper.
- Trousers and shorts.
- Underwear and personal items.
- Spare set of clothes.
- Hat, gloves & sun hat.
- Nightwear.
- Walking boots or strong shoes recommended, wellington if no walking boots.
- Indoor shoes, when we have a building.
- A warm hat, gloves and sun hat
- Knife, fork, spoon, plate, bowl, and cup are all non-breakable with a young person’s name.
- Bag to put dirty and wet clothes in.
- Medication, to be individually labelled and handed to leaders before departure.
- Spending money to be handed in before leaving.
- No mobile devices or electronic games unless advised differently for a camp or event.
