About the opportunity:
Help Us Start a New Explorer Scout Unit
We’re launching a new Explorer Scout Unit for young people aged 14–18 and are seeking adult volunteers to help make it a success.
You can get involved as a Team Leader or as a Team Member. You don’t need to have been in Scouts before; you just need to be willing to support indoor and outdoor activities, encourage young people, and have a bit of fun.
We’re supported by Water Orton & Coleshill Scout Groups and the Atherstone Scout District, so you won’t be doing this alone. You’ll join a friendly, experienced network of adult volunteers across the area.
If you’re interested, let’s have a no-pressure chat. There’s no commitment just by asking for more info.
You need to:
- Be 18 or over
- Enjoy working with teenagers
- Be willing to learn new skills
- Enjoys being part of a team
What you might do as a volunteer:
- Support others to run weekly Explorer meetings
- Help plan and lead games, discussions and activities with Explorers
- Gather ideas and resources for meetings
- Encourage young people to plan their own camps and trips
- Attend occasional weekend activities or day visits
- Be the main point of contact when needed
You don’t have to do all of this every week—we work as a team and share the load.
What’s in it for you?
- Learn and build skills in teamwork, leadership and organisation
- Make a difference locally
- Have fun and meet new people
- Build experience working with young people (great if you’re thinking of teaching, youth work, coaching etc.)
Want to try it out first?
Do a 4-Week Challenge—come along and try it for a few weeks with no pressure. You’ll see what it’s like and can decide if it’s for you.
