Scout Association
The Government has confirmed that the youth sector is an essential service. Therefore Scouts can continue to meet in a COVID-safe way independent of social gathering restrictions where they follow Scouts’ guidance.
As it stands, there is no time imposed on Groups by the Scout Association to get back to face-to-face meetings. The safety of volunteers and young people will always remain the number one priority.
Scout Group and our Volunteers
Our Leaders are all volunteers and are free to decide when they want to return to face-to-face Scouting. Leaders have families and jobs they need to consider when returning, and if they are unable to work due to an isolation request could impact their job and family. For Leaders and our helpers to return, we need to make sure we have the right processes in place for every returning Leader to be comfortable with face-to-face Scouting.
Leaders, Scout Group, and Atherstone District have worked and approved our risk assessments for our return, with changes to how we will operate. The changes to how we operate may seem more strict than schools and other youth clubs, but this is the only way for our Leaders and helpers to return.
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders, Parents and Guardians
For the safety of everyone,
For face-to-face Scouting to return, parents and guardians will need to
- Please read this and the following pages on what the changes to our processes are.
- Read the COVID-19 Risk Assessments for the section your young person will be returning to (links open in a new tab)
- Please abide by the new changes and agree to follow them.
What happens if new processes are not followed?
- Leaders could decide not to be available for face-to-face sessions, with two adult Leaders required as a minimum per session, with three preferred.
- If we do not have enough available leaders, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts will return to virtual-only delivery.
- We reserve the right not to invite anyone who does not follow the new process for entering and exiting Scout driveway and grounds as described in the next pages.
